The National Lottery Community Fund…
We wanted to SHARE some exciting news with you about Surrey Heath Age Concern
Surrey Heath Age Concern awarded a three year grant from The National Lottery Community Fund to enhance the lives of older people in the borough of Surrey Heath.
Surrey Heath Age Concern, an independent local charity, is today celebrating after being awarded £127,000.00 in National Lottery funding to support its work with the growing population of older residents living on their own. The charity will receive the grant over three years to support and increase the capacity and reach of their current services for local residents.
Surrey Heath Age Concern has been running since 1975 and today it has over 120 active volunteers all supported by just 5 part time members of staff.
The charity runs various services such as a weekly befriending service with over 50 visits currently taking place, weekly afternoon tea parties, weekly agility fall prevention classes at Places Leisure in Camberley, a community café and even a men’s breakfast club. The vital sessions help older residents to make new friends and connections with local support services, while helping to combat loneliness and isolation.
The new funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, which distributes money raised by National Lottery players for good causes and is the largest community funder in the UK, will see these services expand to offer more space so numbers can increase.
