Kings Award 2025

Last week, I had the pleasure of supporting the Camberley Nepalese Gurkha Society, who have been shortlisted for the prestigious 2025 King’s Award for Voluntary Service. This incredible group, led by Tek and his dedicated team, tirelessly works to provide support and assistance to the Nepalese community in Surrey Heath. Their passion and commitment are truly inspiring, and I feel honored to be part of their journey. Also nominated for The Kings Award are “Voluntary Support North Surrey” and “Camberley Care”, another two amazing charities we are lucky to have in the Borough of Surrey Heath.

At Surrey Heath Age Concern (SHAC), we have had the joy of engaging with the Nepalese community through our Knit and Natter group. Over the past few months, this group has been crafting beautiful items for the Baby Unit at Frimley Park Hospital. The talented Nepalese ladies who join us each week not only create amazing pieces but also bring so much laughter and joy to our sessions.

I’m continually amazed by the spirit of collaboration and community within Surrey Heath, and I’m proud to play a small role in fostering these connections. Here’s to many more moments of creativity, laughter, and shared success.
